These forums have at least three duplicate URLs for the same stuff
These forums have at least three duplicate URLs for the same stuff
http://www.psionguild.org/forums/ http://www.psionguild.com/forums/ http://parazoology.psionguild.org/forums/ They are not redirecting at all. This is bad google juice. Not only that, parazoology.psionguild.org is a complete duplicate of the content at www.psionguild.org All the site needs is some simple apache redirect code. I can churn some out if you need me to. EDIT: Found reptiles.psionguild.org as another one. Last edited by Minsc; 03-09-2010 at 12:59 PM. |

Yes google sees duplicate content and penalizes it. This especially so when it's across multiple domains. It is less so when across multiple subdomains, but still bad. It needs a dynamic Apache 301 redirect that takes the whole query string with it. You could also do it in PHP, too.

So, this would actually lower the Guild's profile somewhat and make it harder to reach without some form of intuition...
... I still don't see what the problem is. ;) I could be wrong of course.

Lol. Isn't that a little bit exclusionist? I never figured you as the elitist type :p

I plead use of an emoticon to mark a post as a joke. Or at least, a tongue in cheek post. :P
Fact - I cannot understand what the issue here is, which is why I asked in the first place what Bad Google Juice meant. Then I came up with a POSSIBLE answer. Not necessarily even close to be a correct one. Elitist? Hmm... I don't know. I would hazard a guess the truth is more complex.

As with many things we are confronted with everyday. Oh, why can't a cigar just ALWAYS just be a cigar? :( Still, the fact many of us don't know our own true motives for doing pretty much anyhting is good in the sense that there's always potential for improvement in that department, and it makes for some very interesting soul-searching and self-evaluations. How can anyone ever be bored? :D

Does this happen by accident or are these mirrors made on purpose? They're not very useful. I'm sure everyone just uses the main site.
